Overview
Sheet Metal Workers’ Local Union No. 104 represents a part of California’s HVAC union workforce, comprising over 25,000 members and 1,500 apprentices across 15 training centers.
The union leads in HVAC installation, service, and Heat Pump technology, supporting California’s goal of 6 million heat pumps installed by 2030.
The Local 104 Rebate Program incentivizes homeowners to choose union contractors for their HVAC needs. Rebates range from $50 to $600 for services such as AC tune-ups and full system installations. The program is funded entirely by union dues and supports disadvantaged communities (DACs).

What you’ll Get
Install Rebates:
(Max $1,000 per location / $2,000 per year)
$500: Install Heat Pump System (Replace Gas → Heat Pump or HP → HP)
$300: Install gas HVAC system (HEAT & COOL)
$250: Install gas HVAC system (HEAT ONLY or COOL ONLY)
$150: 1 zone mini split wall mount system, +$80 for each additional zone (3 max. per install)
$125: replace wall/floor furnace
Tune-Up Rebates:
(Max 2 rebates per year at $125 each, with a 3-month gap at the same location)
$75: First System Tune-Up
$50: Same Residence, Second System (must be 3 months apart)
Eligibility Requirements
Residential homes only (no new construction or commercial properties)
Work must be performed by SMART, SMW Local 104 signatory contractors
Technicians must be union members or apprentices
Equipment must be purchased through the installing contractor
How to apply
The customer receives a rebate form from the contractor after installation or a tune-up
Customer submits completed rebate + detailed invoice within 90 days via mail, fax, or email.
